Choose Your Independence through your Choices!

We all have choices. I'm not talking about major decisions – whether to take a new job, where to live, who to marry – I'm referring to every day choices.
Our reactions to daily situations are our choice. We chose whether to be hurt, angry or sad or … to be happy. Our reactions are based on our conditioning – and whether we think other people should see us react in a certain way – yes, we do so much to please others! |

Maybe you're in a relationship (bearing in mind that every interaction with another person becomes a ‘relationship', however short) – so, you probably have lots of relationships, and there may be one or two that upset you. Maybe someone ‘always' upsets you. Maybe they know how to ‘push your buttons' and make you react. If, for example, they're a bully and you always react upset and angry, this will satisfy their intention and encourage them to continue.
We don't want to continually be upset, so we can chose to react differently. You'll have to prepare yourself so that when someone next says something that would usually upset you, you are ready with your new response. Instead of getting hurt and angry, your changed reaction could be a calm one by taking a deep breath and by counting to ten or mock surprise – you don't have to get into an argument – just be calm and almost don't respond! The other person will stop in their tracks and think twice about using that tactic again.
You may get irritable when driving in your car, when you're in a hurry for an appointment. Your irritability is your chosen reaction, your chosen emotion to this situation. You can change it. Make a different choice.

The only person you're upsetting is you! Except, of course, if you have someone else in the car with you, they will sense your tension and become tense too. This is how we spread our emotions to others. By causing ‘an atmosphere'! It is energetic vibrations causing it. So think happy and you will spread happiness. It really is as simple as making your choice – making your mind up – changing your mind! |
