Diary Writing

We cannot develop until we get to know ourselves, and a good way to really get to know yourself, and to really be truthful to yourself, is to write a daily diary.

Every day just pick up a pen and notebook – you don’t have to buy a special diary, you simply just need a pen and paper – and write about how you are feeling.

This diary is obviously going to be very personal and if it is impossible to keep it away from others’ prying eyes, always destroy your writings afterwards – you will find that you never re-read them anyway.

In your diary try and write about the following things:

The people you met, the conversations you had, and how they made you feel. Did you get upset and why do you think this was?

Did you speak the truth to those you met or were you keeping things back or agreeing with them just to please them? Were you being straight or playing games? If so, why?

If you write your diary in the morning, write a list of things you want to achieve in the day. This will help you to focus on what you want to achieve.

If you write your diary in the evening, write about the things you did, and how you felt about these things. Were you doing what you really wanted to be doing? Did you let others distract you? Did you distract yourself – by watching TV for example?!

Only you can answer these questions. Only you can be honest with yourself.

Once you get used to writing your innermost thoughts and feelings, you will start to open up to the Universe and understand what you are doing to your Self, and what your Self is doing to you.

Are you really doing what you want? Are you happy? How can you become happier?

Openness is a great way to start, and diary-writing is a good tool to help.
