I find it very hard to throw things away, but I bagged some up and gave them to charity. Anything I hadn’t worn for two years, unwanted gifts sitting in the cupboard, and the inherited household goods that I hadn’t used since they were passed down to me. Just cluttering up my space!
But, until this week, I thought my poster referred to material things. But it dawned on me this week that it also, and more importantly, refers to my mind.
So, what kind of things have I accumulated in my mind over the years? (Oh, you’re so nosey!)
Well, regrets, guilt, resentment, inhibitions, fears - can you make up your own list?
What stops the flow of energy to our minds?
Worry, doubt, fear and our egos – yes, our ego – what I refer to as the Self, is the main thing that keeps our minds cluttered up. We need to take control of our Self and see what it is doing to your mind. The following is an exercise you can try.
NOW, just for a few minutes, put all those accumulated things to one side and live in the NOW moment. It’s something we will have to practise. But if you live in the NOW moment, just for a few seconds, by literally telling yourself you are NOT going to worry and you are ONLY going to focus on what you are doing now, you are going to forget your fears and enjoy THIS MOMENT – just see WHAT you experience.
Please write and let me know your experiences. It may be a feeling of lightness, freedom, happiness – it’s all there INSIDE your head, inside your heart – and if you learn to de-clutter your mind you will allow yourself these good feelings all the time. But for now, just practise on a daily basis – then it will slowly become a habit and you will change your way of thinking.
